So I've got canti posts on a bike that I'm not using. What's the best filler to keep the water/dirt/oil out of the threads so that if I ever want to use them again, they won't be rusted junk?

How about silicone sealer?

Special made, or just like the silicone caulk I used to seal the kitchen sink (clear)?

A little grease followed by heat-shrink tubing (http://heatshrinktubing.net/) in your choice of color.

Now that sounds spot on with what I had in mind. Perfect!
