Bicycle Mechanics - Need a new FD for an old bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
The bike is Raleigh 10speed 199x ? or something,
and I need a new FD b/c the one I have is really bad.
The shifters on this bike are Sachs down tube shifters (they are actually mounted
on the stem).
The question is will a new shimano fit ?

It'll work all right, but you'll have to get the right clamp size. You probably need a 28.6mm (1 1/8").
