I'm curious if Columbia made decent bikes and has anyone heard of a Columbia Bromleigh? It is a womans "crusier type" bike, but more road oriented with smaller tires and chrome fenders. Must be pretty old, though it has a 3 speed which is nice. Thinking of getting it, cleaning it up and giving to my girlfriend for her birthday. she was thinking of buying a new cruiser bike(she thinks they look cute! ) but I want her to come with me riding. anyone have any knowledge, because I can pick it up locally real cheap.

Woman's bikes from that era were horribly susceptible to a high speed wobble. Not the dainty kind, the throw-the-bike-under-a-truck kind. People ride them, I see a lot of guys riding them around here.
Just don't go fast. 3 speeds were big in the 60's. That's likely when this one was made.

hmmm. well thanks for the info. I might just get it, because it is so cheap that if it is crap, i'll just toss it.

If it has a Sturmey-Archer 3-speed hub, buy it. They are bullet proof.
If it has a Shimano 3-speed hub, skip it.
