Yes, this is the year...

September 11th of 2009 will not only commemorate the tragedy of 9/11/2001, but it will also usher in a new tragedy of truly epic proportions...Chipcom turns 50.

I'm warning you all now, and I'll make sure to give you periodic warnings between now and then, so you can use this grace period to age much faster (if applicable) to qualify for and start a 60+ forum. You thought Pcad was bad? Pcad is wussy. Be afwaid, vewy, vewy afwaid, you wascally fossils!

Turned 50 4 years ago...growing old ain't for the weak of heart---just getting out of bed in the morning is an adventure. Still don't feel any younger, say,...than 48, though.

I will come to your door dressed as the reaper... on a bike, of course)

So how are you going to aclimatise to this "Elite" forum?

You do realise that It does take some training to let the "Young" bloods set the pace and disapear into the distance on the century rides. Thats takes a lot of will power to do but the longer you can hold on before you overtake them- the better it pi**es them off.

Then there is the Colonoscopy- Are you ready for one yet?

And then there is PIE. No need to mention this as you have been a lurker for too long- but what is your PIE of Choice?

I would say welcome- but there is no need to say that to an old face- and an even older member.

You notice how some of the youngsters come to this forum full of p**s and vinegar but in time lose their vinegar and show their true colours.Maturity is how you accept that fact, some of us never accept!

No, I think they lose their p**s, too, as Jean pointed out earlier in this thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=517721).

More likely, congrats on making 50 and still being "out there" as opposed to sunk into recliner chair petrefaction. Consider the endless road before you...all those sweet miles beckoning to you. At 61, I enjoy (and appreciate) those miles rolling by more than ever.

You lucky road dawg.....the best is yet before you!!

FOLKS, WE HAVE A SERIOUS ISSUE HERE: ACCORDING TO A SEARCH, CHIPCOM (HEREINAFTER KNOWN AS "CHEATCOM") HAS BEEN CHEATING ALL ALONG, WITH 402 POSTS ALREADY IN THE 50+ FORUM AND, YES, I AM CAPITALIZING THESE SENTENCES BECAUSE WE NEED TO SHOUT THIS TO THE WORLD.

FOLKS - DO WE LET A CHEATER INTO OUR MISTS, OR SHOULD WE DO A BLACKBALL - IGNORING ALL FUTURE POSTS?

As I recall we really don't have hard and fast "rules" for membership -- they are really more like "guidelines". Chipcom has been acting older than his age for quite a while now according to DnvrFox's research. I say if he wants to hang with this elite group seasoned with wisdom, it might actually do some good. We could admit him with provisional status, but the secret handshake and special password will have to wait.

HI,
Welcome to the almost senile forum, and remember age is only a number, or is it something else, I forgot.
The bad news is the wind is stronger over 50, the hills are steeper, and those pesky bike mechanics are always tweaking your brake lever so you can't go over 18 mph its a radio control brake.geeze...
Never forget to put metamucil in your coffee, its great for getting you going and then goin.
Doug

Those pesky padded pants can double as depends in pinch!

ps don't forget to ask for the Sr Discount at the LBS they forget to tell you about that.
