Fifty Plus (50+) - Pulled the Trigger on the Roubaix!!

Ordered a new Roubaix Elite triple today. Thanks for all of the input on this forum, it was very helpful. Have been leaning toward the red, but settled on the black and silver even though I know it has been proven that red bikes are much faster,(never had a black bike before). The test ride was sweet and I will be picking mine up on Friday. Anyone interested in pictures at that point?? Foolish question.

I think so too after weighing everything, I will have the bike a long time so I thought, "why not?" My wife was helpful as well and said "you should get what you really want". Hmmmmm

I don't use my granny gear to much, but I'm glad it's there when I need it. Very good choice, I would have made the same one.:D

i've had an elite since 2005 - love it, especially after ditching the Alex 295 wheelset that they came with back then! 2005 had a mix of ultegra and 105 components. i see that has changed in the last 4 years (sad how that is happenening, the downgrading of components), yet I believe you will come to love this bike even more after riding it on rought roads.

i lived in the rockies until revcently, wish i had the roubaix here in china but could only bring one bike.

Me, I would not get rid of this bike. I go to the roubaix whenever the road will be rough. great bike.

Enjoy many thousands of miles on your new ride. Similarly, my granny sees little use but there have been times when my over-confidence got me halfway up something and my granny then got me to the top.

Dawg, that's one of the reasons I got it. Did a 97 miler last year (called it a century) and want to do at least one this summer. Retired in January so I will now have the time to ride much more often. Hoping for many carefree miles.

I've got my money on the bet that you'll be doing more than one century this year.

Congratulations! That is the exact bike (Black - Elite - Triple) that I lust after. It is my bike in the future. I go visit it at bike stores everyonce in a while.

I have the comp triple and like everybody with a Roubaix, I really like it. All I upgraded was a new wheel set that I use for my longer weekend workouts and I kept the stock ones for my daily commutes to work.

summer of 2007, I did many a century on my elite triple, sometimes tow in a weekend as i trained for a tour. I lived in michigan that summer so really didn't use the small ring much. I use that bike in the rockies for pleasure riding, centuries, climbing and high speed descents. We have a hill that climbs about 2000 feet in 15 miles, speeds get.... fast on the way down. Have hit 50 and generally chicken out about there. I'm using fusion velocity rims, sapim dxray spokes and king hubs on that bike. its been lightened a lot, weighs a little more than 16 pounds with pedals.

Bought it at a place called Serious Cycles on route 3A in Plymouth MA. Owner operated, friendly and knowledgeable shop.

My last one (and '08 Sirrus Comp), I purchased at the Cycle Loft in Burlington, MA. Was satisfied with them but not overly so. They seemed to cater to the high end crowd, both in road and off road models. They do a good job fitting and their prices are competitive and I would consider them in the future. I boought locally in Plymouth this time because I recently moved here and believe in supporting local businessmen, plus they seemed knowledgeable and they are close for repairs, advice etc.
