I am new to track cycling & have just been loaned race wheels for my first track race next weekend. I have taken them home & realised I do not know how to change the rear wheel - well don't know how to change the cog actually. Can anyone point me in the right direction???

Do you have the necessary tools?

You need a 15mm wrench, a chain whip and lockring tool (c-spanner, hook spanner).

The lockring is threaded counter clock-wise. Don't over-do it when torqueing down the lockring.

Yep have all the tools but haven't actually done it before. I need pictures or a detailed guide...

swallow your pride and have someone at the track show you... proper chain tension is much easier to learn in person.

Thanks guys, will probably get someone to help at the track. Can sort out chain tension (learnt that when I learnt to change the front chain ring) just don't know about the chain whip/rear cog bits. Everyone has been very friendly & helpful - thus one of the guys loaning me race wheels - it was only when I got them home that I realised my problem!
