Road Cycling - Where to find NOS 8 speed?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just bought a 2001 anodized TCR Team frame with an EC90 full carbon fork and I'm going to build it up with my sturdy old Ultegra 8 speed group. However, my old bike used a 31.8 ft derailleur and the TCR uses a braze on. Does anyone know where i can find NOS shimano 8 speed stuff? Either D/A or Ultegra is great. Thanks.

Or try new... Except for the first year of Dura Ace 8-speed (1997, I think), all Shimano derailleurs are compatible with each other. IOW, a derailleur is a derailleur is a derailleur.
The difference is in the shifters. Use your new derailleur with a set of 8-speed shifters and it will work with an 8-speed cassette and chain (or a 9-speed chain, for that matter). Conversely, buy a new 9-speed shifter and your new derailleur -- or the one you have in your 8-speed kit -- would work wiht a 9-speed cassette and chain.
For 8 speed, Modolo Morphus shifters would be perfect...
Your LBS should be able to get or may even have what you are looking for.
Thanks alot guys. I was a bit wary about using 9 speed derailleurs with an 8 speed chain. Actually it's a moot point as I went home and took a close look at my derailleur and it looks like it's a braze on mounted onto a clamp adaptor. I thought it might be, 31.8 is a big tube.
Thanks anyway for all of your help.
