Long time lurker here. Had to post yesterday's ride. Rode the Blossom ride put on by the Lion's Club in Reedley, Ca. We started at Shaw and Academy in Fresno,Ca. and rode 23 miles to Reedley, rode the metric, then rode home. 112 miles with 3000 ft of climbing. Time at the 100 mile mark was 5:57 total time was 6:30. 55 years old. Our group is the ROG's which use to stand for the retired old guys but we just kept getting older so now it's the really old guys. Oldest member is 72, I'm the rookie. This year I've started managing my heart rate and feel much better at the end of a ride. I'm staying out of 95% range on long rides and it's paying off.

Yeah! That's what I want to read!

I did it last year when I turned 50 and plan to keep doing it as long as I can.

my last birthday as a sexagenarian today
a glorious day
so I extended my usual Tuesday ride
with the Veterans Club
and managed a 97 k recovery ride
down to the vineyards of McLaren Vale
and returned via the coast road
of course after a great coffee and fruit cake
at our usual rest stop cafe

Yeah, not redlining it on heart rate really makes the last 20 miles SOOOOO much easier.
