hello there everyone,

i have been reading around this forum for quite a while now, in particular the folding and the electric section. which has lead me to some of my best decisions EVER including the...(drum roll).. brompton!

The other peice of adive was the heinzmann. however i recently purchased one second hand and im having some problems. Can you help me please:cry:

basically I can not get it to start. I have attached a full set of photos to try and explain. the green light comes on but when i pull back the throttle no help from the motor. what am i doing/done wrong?

I'm no expert, but I have worked on all kinds of things ranging from marine to heavy equipment.

I'd suggest buying a multimeter & testing each component. It may be the throttle. It may be a fuse. It may be the motor.
Or it may be as simple as a bad connection.

yeap kog will do to isolate the problem hopefull theres not something wrong with the controller. thanks

just to explain the pictures.

1, the bike
2, engine spec
3, hub mount
4, 24v controller, do any of the hienzmann users know do i needed to keep the key switched on the on postion?
5,control cabels
6, showing connection from controller to battery
7, batteries 4 x6v 12ah
8, battery details
9, fuse
10,battery cables, do i but the positive fused end to the positive terminal of the battery?
11,cabels "case"
12, the set as i bought it. which came with two 13kg!!! 40ah 12v batteries but until i get a decent mounting these are staying in the bottom of my wardrobe.

You could probably use a test light also just to see if you have current to the motor & then you can backtrack to find the problem. It will be a lot cheaper than a multimeter. You could even make one for next to nothing by using an automotive light bulb in a harness which you can scavenge from an old vehicle. Just take care not to put much more than 12v through it or the bulb will blow & if you don't realize it you'll go crazy wondering why there is suddenly no current in the entire system.

my system is 24v but i will ask a few friends if they have multimeteres.

i also took of the insul tape so you can see the connection from the controller to the hub

My guess is that the 2 small wires are for the temperature sensor. The red and blue are the + and - polarity. If you hook up a battery directly to those wires the motor should spin since it is brushed.

i tried that and it worked thanks! any idea which if the small black wires goes to which side?

Polarity doesn't matter on the thermal sensor. It is a normally open switch till you get above 140F and then it is closed.
