So the LBS has a closeout on some road bikes and I am going to go in and hopefully get my first road bike. I know that fit will ultimately be the deciding factor but I was hoping some of you could offer your opinions. Oh, I am a clyde (250 ish) so I will upgrade wheels too.

Which bike would you pick?

2008 Felt Z70 with 105 componets- $1050

2008 Trek 1600, 105 componets, $1000

2008 Bianchi Via Nirone 7, 105 componets $1200

Thanks for any suggestions!

With Shimano 105's all around I think it will boil down to personal preference.
Ride and decide. It comes down to fit and feel with the same components on all of them.

Concur. Test ride. Get the one that feels best.

I wouldn't be in a rush to upgrade the wheels. I'm 245-250 ish and still riding (~3K miles) the stock 20/24 spoke Xero wheels that came on my bike. No issues to date -- retensioned and trued after a few hundred miles as preventive maintenance. Ask the shop if they will retension and true them gratis after a few hundred miles. With just a little preventive maintenance, you may be surprised with the durability of those stock wheels.

+1 on the wheels. Relax and enjoy what you'll got. I'm 280 and my 24 spoke wheel set is doing great.

Thanks for the input. I would love to save a little money and hold out on wheels!

The Trek is the fastest. Lance rode a Trek every time he won the Tour de France.

Ride all three, whichever one gives the closest to perfect fit, is the one to buy, if the fit is 99% there, it's easy to get it dialled in perfectly.
