I converted a hybrid into my winter ice/snow bike and used a singleator. I'll get a picture tonight.

I've also used an old derailleur instead of a singleator with good results (effectively making it a "railleur", if you will...)

On that poprad you can use 41x17 with a halflink as a magic gear. Just say'n.

Sadly, the Poprad is no longer with us...41x17 is a bit too small a gear for the road methinks (i think the poprad in the picture was 38x12 if memory serves)

For road it is too low but it's fine for CX. I love my Poprad, it will take something major for me to get rid if it.

Recently converted my Trek. I'm changing the cranks and gearing it down very soon. Hopefully I find the right gear so I don't need the singleator.

Good tool for finding the right gear.
