Bicycle Mechanics - Airless Tires?

I have a Trek with 700x38 Bontrager wheels and tires. Unfortunately, this bike eats a tube or casing every couple hundred of miles or so due to nails or whatever else gets in the way.

Now I see these airless tires by Greentyre, Nu Tech and Poly Tires USA. Does anybody have any experience with these? If they do last forever, that would be great!

They may last forever, but they probably weigh a ton too. You would be better off with tire liners or switching to Armadillo or Rufy Tufy tires instead.

They are no where near as good as normal tyres for bike use. They don't absorb shock as well and don't provide as much grip as conventional tyres.
If you get several punctures per ride then they might be worth considering. I would only use them as a last resourt after all other alternatives (slime, liners, kevlar belted tyres) had failed.

Yeah, the question gets asked here a lot. I see a lot of people post negatives about them, but not a single positive post from experience. The Specialized Armadillos should help you out.

I have a set of Bontrager 26x1.95" Hard Cases on my Trek Navigator with nearly 3000 miles on them and nary a flat. I have ridden over some pretty nasty stuff, too and not a hiccup.

Airless tires, from what I have read on other sites, are not worth the trouble it takes to mount them, which is considerable.

a long time ago i tried some of these on my mtb bike. i remembered i really liked them because in Arizona we had lots of sharp jagged rocks on the trails and all sorts of thorny plants. a flat was one less thing on the mind. on a road bike i don't think they would be necessary.

Back in my shop days, we had more people come in to get us to cut these things out of their or their kids's tires than you can imagine. They were like riding on wood, virtually impossible to mount and basically took a lot away from the riding for whoever had them. We'd throw on tire liners or put slime in the tubes and they'd have a normal riding bike again without all the flats. There are so many better options that you should look at.
