http://ddbimages.smugmug.com/gallery/7545615_nkNvM#487675929_6cYLG - start there, go through the next 6-7 pics, I'm in yellow.

The race was tough, lots of rollers, a good amount of wind, and three big teams that never let any breakaway get very far.

The last 2 miles the guy in blue (in those pics at the line) attacks and but noone wants to chase hard, but we start picking up the pace. Another guy goes off the front a mile to go but we don't answer, knowing that there is a pretty long uphill into-the-wind finish ahead and we are already putting the hammer down. 400yds to go I sense the packs legs are dying, so I make my move. I jump out of the saddle for 50 yards, then sit and grind. 100yds to go I catch the 2nd place guy. As I came around him I notice the last one up ahead has slowed way up and was getting eaten up by the wind and last bit of the climb. Adrenaline hit me hard as I realized I still had a shot at the win, so I stand up again and put my caad9 frame through a torsional stiffness test. The rest is in the photos.

So yea, after this weekend, I've got 27 points, enough for the upgrade to 3's. =)

Congrats! I remember seeing the guy in blue go and thought it was a bit too soon. Nice move and timing! That was a hard race. I had nothing at the end after doing the TT and Crit the day before!

Yea the crit sucked it out of me too. Several of us hammered up front for multiple laps to reel that PACC guy in, but he was too far off. Ended up with 4th place, legs were dead at the sprint from sitting at the front the entire race.

Congrats!! Sounds like a perfect move, and you're ready for the 3s (Looks like I just missed you)

Great sprint, way to keep at it through the line. The poor guy in 2nd would have had it if he'd stayed in the drops!

You should snag a print, these are good shots.

No... I am actually very far from pro and absolutely hate crits. I just stuck the two together and came up with procrit, which also happens to be a pretty decent doping substance from what I hear. ;)

bike throw, smike throw. His wheels are deeper. That's why he won.

edit: what the eff is that guy doing on the hoods?

I'm most definitely getting the last few photos. And yes, missed you by a month... It will be a good thing for my future results though. =)

edit: what the eff is that guy doing on the hoods?have you ever had that feeling where you are pushing as hard as you can and not getting anywhere? Look at the second place guy in the first photo, you can tell that's the way he's feeling. Sucks to have that kind of lead and get passed at the line, at least he wasn't passed by the whole peloton.

Try doing that with over 5 minutes between you and the second place finisher :P

Congrats. A win is a win is a win.

I've decided to race with the 3's already even though I'm one point shy. Soon my first set of points will expire and I will be screwed.

If I would have been in the second break instead of the first on Sunday...I think I could have gotten it.

I did 3/4 crit Saturday and 3/4 rr Sunday.

Nice. I heard that was some fast racing. I have no doubt you would've easily been at the top of the 4/5's.

My first go in the 3's will be in DFW at the memorial crit/rr's in April. I think I'll have a better shot at getting some cat 3-->2 points there than at San Antonio the weekend before. Could be WAY wrong though.

Not to hijack the thread, but it would have been really nice to have such a cool sequence. This is all they got. The guy in front was from another race. :notamused:

Nice work, and great looking photos. Flexed guads, great bike throw, front wheel inches from the line, milliseconds from the win... I think you need one poster-sized, for motivation once you get to the 3s

Watch E. Attayi if he's around in the last mile. He's got a kilo like mine, but not as much experience putting it to use. Other than him, the 3s around here are ripe for the kilo attack. Enjoy.

You can wear him down if you do 4 hard laps at the track though.

Congrats! Awesome ride. I tell this to everyone that wins but enjoy the heck out of it. Didn't realize you were on PPL. I didn't get a chance to congratulate JM on his win, had we known he was in the running for the Omnium we would have reshuffled the deck :D Pass on my thumbs up if you see him.

I should tell big E he's being analyzed here on BF. He'd get a kick out of it.

WR, you're my inspiration to start up kilo attacks. I've been doing WRI's(insert circle R here) weekly with this exact scenario in mind. If only I had the watts to back it up ;)
