Unfortunately, I will be missing this; instead i will be enjoying 80+ temps in Tempe, AZ and taking in some pre-season Angels baseball games. There will be much relaxing by the pool, too!

I'll be doing the circuit race on Sunday.

Does anybody else find this schedule idiotic?

From what I understood a few guys touched wheels and he got caught behind it. We watched him get dragged for about 40 or 50 feet though by a few of the other guys in the pack. To his credit, he got back up and finished the day and came out and raced sunday too.

So it's funny we both have the points to move up a cat but are waiting until after San Dimas.

That's when I have my peak scheduled for season and I think I would be better off in the 3s. Besides the damn thing fills up months in advance so it's hard to plan for if you're even close to upgrading.

Probably Masters 45+ circuit race on Sunday. Anyone raced on this course before? They talk about it being mostly flat on the flier, but then they say a 21 is small enough for the hill. Is it a 39 X 21 hill or is it a big ring roller?

Definitely a big ring roller. The climbs might be 5-7% but are only about 30-50 meters long apiece and there are about 5 of them if I remember correctly. Definitely not completely flat, but not enough to drop anyone either.

Looks like a 3 hour drive... don't want to get caught in rush hour traffic so either take a half day and leave early or in the evening after work maybe 6 or 7.

I think I'm going to have to take the whole day off next week for San Dimas, it would probably be better for work to not take time off this week. If we left at 6 we would get there around 9... that's not too bad.

Does he have the points? I know he won the UCLA road race, but what else? I asked him the other day and he mumbled something but I didn't really catch it. I'll ask him again next time I see him. It's funny one reason I really wanted to move up to the 3s was to be with more teammates but it seems like a lot of our 3s are on the verge of being 2s. We seem to be mostly 1s and 2s now. I'm always laggin'

You're too nice, but at least you still got him at the line. I feel stupid now though because I was replaying how the last 2 laps went down and when I came up to the front on the backside of 2-to-go you were on the other side of the field from me (I was on the front but we were like 5 across). But what I should have done was jumped right then to string it out and you probably could have jumped on, either right on my wheel or a few back. I didn't know where Derek was though. I stupidly took the outside of the last corner and that was pretty much the end of my race right there.

i think i am going to stay a 4 forever....

OK, I'm definitely in the Masters 45+ (which is also combined with the Masters 55+). Unfortunately, Thurlow is also registered in my race. :(

Turn 2 was super-sketch with lots of dive-bombing and bumping and turn 3 somebody touched and grabbed their brakes and put me back too far. I shot up the inside into the final corner but was too far back and pretty much cruised to the line. Did I mentioned I hate crits. Tomorrow's circuit race has some rollers, I'll try to put the hurt on the field, but the final few corners look pretty sketch too and it may end up more like a crit in the end.

This is going into the second corner. This corner was lame, it was basically a driveway... it's where most of the accidents were.

Looks like a different course from last year or at least running in the opposite direction. Last year was all right-hand corners. I also don't remember any driveways, but I'm old so my memory isn't great. ;)

it was in the opposite direction. It wasn't a driveway with a lip and all but it was "basically" a driveway in that it was very narrow.

OK, now I get it. Yeah that would have been kind of troublesome since the straight between 1 and 2 was downhill and you're going from a wide-ish road to a narrow road.
