Introductions - Hi! Any Melbourne, FL area riders?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

HI,

I am new to this forum and reasonably new to biking (seriously). I own a Bianchi Sport SX and an Bridgestone SB-2 (~80's vintage). Anyway, I am "rekindling" my love of biking and am trying to train for a triathlon in August (boy will it be hot in Florida then!). I am trying to get my speed up and was wondering if I should invest in a new bike to get some better performance. I have looked at Felt F50, Trek 2100-2300, Specialized, LeMonds and I could use some advise because they all ride real nice, but I really want to use it mostly for long distance enjoyment, with an occasional triathlon.

Any suggestions? Also, if anyone rides in this area, look me up and let's ride! Help me train and build endurance. I am currently averaging about 17mph on my Bianchi. I would love to join the over 20 club (with help!).

Any thoughts? :)

Sarasota checking in.

I ride mtn and road, so if you're ever on the Left coast, look me up!

Riding 17 by yourself aint bad at all. That'll put you in the 20-22 mph range if you ride in a group (paceline). Just remember, as a beginner it's better to spin an easier gear than MASH a big gear!

You'll get there in NO TIME!
