Im looking into a roadbike(still) and I have decided that I want to build a bike. I know it's going to cost more than if I buy a complete bike but I want to learn how to assemble/disassemble a bike and how to maintain the bike better.
Im just looking into frames right now and I only want to spend about $350-$400 on a frame. A bit more if it's a good deal.
I found a Klein frame on e-bay that is at $500(if I do decide to buy it, ill use the buy it now as it's at $550)
Frame comes with:
SEAT POST: THOMPSON ELITE SEAT POST (BLACK)
SEAT: SELLE SAN MARCO ASPIDE
STEM: 100CM DEDA NEWTON
HANDLEBARS: 46CM (CENTER TO CENTER) DEDA NEWTON
FORK: KLEIN AEROS FORK

I wanted to know if this is a good frame and, more importantly, is $550 for all of it a good price?

man, if it was my size i would go for it. Kleins are known for their smooth ride (i have never ridden one though) and their paint. I would say its a good deal, but are you sure your a 52? and also the 46cm bars maybe too big for someone that rides a 52.
also, buying a bike whole might be a bit cheaper, but it you really want some spezialized stuff, then go for building it.

well I rode some bikes at my lbs and I fit a 52. If the handlebars are too wide then I can replace them.
BTW Im not going for really high-end components, I just want to build my own bike. Kinda neat to be able to say that I guess.
Also I need some help on what kind of components I should buy. My budget for components is only $600 but im hoping to make some money along the way so I can buy some nicer stuff.
Im looking at low end campy(mirage/veloce) or shimano 105. Or, if I can find nicer stuff on e-bay I won't pass that up either!

I found some wheels for $270.
Decent set of wheels?

Klein tends to run with long top tubes so you will probably want a smaller frame than you would usually ride. Check out their web site for more info. They are great frames, the older ones may be a little harsher riding than the newer ones

hmmm, ill e-mail the seller to see if I can get exact specs.
BTW has anyone heard of sintesi bikes? I found one on e-bay for $850. If its a good deal then Im going to buy the sintesi and just upgrade the parts that I don't like.

You may want to e-mail them for a pic of the black line on the down tube right by the head tube.
Probally just a string but you can never be to careful on ebay.
For what it's worth I love my Klein road bike. It feels nice and sturdy under power and it makes me want to climb every hill I see.
