Cyclocross - Tricross Frame

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am planning to build a cross bike to use as a road bike too, any comments on this frame?

Awesome frame. Quite overkill for me, but you'd have to judge for yourself if it's right for you.
What are you planning on doing with it? Road only, there are a lot of better choices out there.

My favorite of 4 bikes is my Tricross, by a country mile. It's a great frame. If you're planning on doing a mix of off- and on-road with it, I don't think it's a bad choice at all.

i have the 2006 version of this frame. A shop had bought a quantity of them when they were slightly redesigned for 2007. Mine is full dura ace, got it for 2000.00!
This is a great frame. If its like mine, I think it has no fender and rack eyelets. Maybe not a big deal to you, but I ended up wishing it had them (I dont race, use it for all kind of things, off road, around town, etc)

Not sure I understand where you're coming from- does "road bike too" mean in addition to cross bike usage?
Or road biking only?
If the latter, get a road frameset. You can run calipers, you'll have less chance of toe overlap, it'll be lighter, more aero (very road weenie of me), you won't have huge tire/fender clearance that you may not want or need and the frame won't be overbuilt for riding on pavement.

Should be a great compromise for the dual purposes.
Just run narrower tires for the road.
Road only, there are a lot of better choices out there.
In practical terms, it's likely that he would not notice any significant difference. And the flexibilty is worth something too. Also, depending on what he likes in a road bike, it could be better than some of the "better choices", for him.

The "too" makes it clear that he wanted it for CX and road. And he posted the question in the CX forum!
you'll have less chance of toe overlap
Why would the toe overlap be less on a road bike?
There is this one on ebay,
