I have a lead on a Nishiki Century and was wondering what to expect? It is an older 10 speed (not the hybrid) and I have not seen a picture. Owner states it is in good shape, needs tires and some adjustment. What is it worth, if I am buying it to flip?
I tried doing a search of the forum to find out some stuff, but it did not seem to be working.

It's at the bottom or one from the bottom of the Nishiki line-up. In the late 80s, the once all high ten frame sported a chromoly seat tube and index 5 speed rear. That's about as good as the Century got. A typical Nishiki Century will have a chromoly frame, stem shifters, lower end Suntour components, steel rims, chrome bars and so on. What ever Hi ten framed bikes sell for in your area, deduct repair parts tires etc, whatever you want to make on the bike and the difference is what you can pay. A nice Century around here would flip for around $80. If it's pristine, $100. There is one factor I found when I flipped the Century I had, some folks will pay extra for the name Nishiki.
Of course I don't know any of them:rolleyes:.
Hope this helps.

Humm -- hi-ten and steel rims. Might not be worth the time to drive out for it. It is only about 20 minutes or so, but that is pretty low end place to start from. I already have a few lower end road bikes that need to be prepped for spring selling ---

sonatageek, I'd hate to see somone not pursue a bike only 20 miles from their home. It might be low end, but I'd still drive out to see it. It might be a newer model and have allow rims.
I'm going to drive 140 miles next week to buy an entry level Nishiki from another BF member.
