There simply must be a ride that day. It's pi day. Without pi, our wheels would not be round.
Sure Pete, come out here. I can promise an excellent lunch.

I forgot you had tentatively set that ride up. If I can get out there then it's a big yes!

Hey, don't forget I have a standing offer for a spend the night before. Oh, you could probably catch the train to Sac and then light rail out to here. Or, I could pick you up at the train station.

I am beyond excited to get back on my mountain bike this weekend. I'm going to ride with a friend I haven't ridden with for almost two full months, which is not cool, since we usually ride every weekend. I'm really looking forward to the fresh air, blue skies and tacky singletrack

My mountain bike is jealous of my road bikes... and I am jealous of you! It's nothing but road biking for me for the next several weeks. Maybe that's why I am so excited about Prairie City. :)

"pi" day, you say? How about this - we start at the Park n' Ride at Bollinger and 680, ride a 45 or so mile loop, and return. Said Park n' Ride is right across the lot from Marie Calendars, which serves....... drum roll please.......

I'll be in Solvang riding the year's first imperial century (I already have two metrics under my belt, one tandem and one on the half-bike). I'll be trading pulls with LanceOldstrong and perhaps some of my SoCal buds.
Y'all have fun!

1. Its my birthday
2. Hopefully I will have my new bike
We can all have pi(e) and not feel guilty, it would be rude to say no to dessert!!!

Hey Joel, I have to be back too early for work related issues on Saturday, so I'm staying local.
I might end up doing Morgan Territories and first part of Diablo. Things are really blooming over there, do time for a Photo trip. I did it last year around this time and It was great.

We could hitch our wagons to the Morgan Territory ride, or do something different. I was thinking up/over Norris to Crow Cyn, over to Redwood Road, loop through Moraga and back to Bollinger/680 and Marie Calendar's for pie. About 45 or so miles and maybe 3000' of climbing.
Morgan territory might be fun, though - except that I would probably not do the Diablo part but instead head for home down Camino Tassajara/Sycamore.

That looks like a great ride, I really want to do Bonny Doon after Levi made it (sort of) famous. His ride up that was epic.
But my plans changed have changed. Now I can ride Saturday but not Sunday. So Pete, keep me posted on meeting place and start time re: Morgan Territories etc. ride.

Hey Chris, It will be great to have you there.
OP: Here (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=519019)
I sort of have this spread over two threads, cause I was looking for a ride and decided to just create one. Joel offered up North, but I have to be back late afternoon for work related biz...
So Concord Bart at 9am and Alex posted a ride map, which is the one we'll use.
See you there!:thumb:

Option 1. We start in Concord at the same time/place as the fast group, say hello for five minutes and then never see them again. :( Then we skip the Diablo junction climb :D and find flatland routes back to Concord. (or we bail to Casa BossMan and shuttle back to pickup vehicle in Concord!)
Option 2. We also start in Concord but about 30 - 45 minutes ahead of the fast group. Have them catch us somewhere near the top of Morgan Territory and then we downhill it with them and meet up at some designated coffee/snack rest stop on Tassajara. Then we skip the Diablo leg as above...
Option 3. We ignore the fast group and start at Casa Bossman.
I think I would prefer Option 2 or Option 3, but am open to other suggestions. You know the routes better to Concord. Is it unrealistic to think we are saving anything with a bypass of the Diablo junction?

If we bypass the run to the Junction, we're saving time and oodles of energy as that is a ~7 mile climb from the bottom of Southgate to the Junction. The full loop will be about the same mileage - 60 or so.
Option 3 - If we start at Casa Bossman, we can either do The Junction first, then descend to the other side, go over Morgan Territory, and return. Or, we can go straight up Danville Blvd and hook right to go around Diablo and straight to Morgan Territory. We will not see the other group in either scenario.
Option 2 - They're starting at 9:00, so it will be painful for you to get to BART from Saratoga early to roll 45 mins ahead, no? Also, it seems silly to drive to Concord, and then ride by my house on the way back. Al Gore would be disappointed in us.
Option 1 - Start with the fast group and get ditched post-haste. Still the issue of the cars, and riding by the house.
My head hurts.

So is artfully pointing out all the obvious flaws in my other options your passive/aggressive way of voting for Option 3? You are right about the early start in Concord being too early. It'll also be cold.
Riding from your house works find for me, but I would still like to get an early-ish start as I have a date that night with a big plate of handmade pasta and a nice bottle of red (and I'm helping to make the pasta).
