people who buy bikes like that and say they never rode them are either lying, or they need to be shot. who doesn't want to ride that bike!? what's the point in buying a $2200 bike and not riding it?

plus, 2200 for that bike is, er, a BIT overpriced. An LBS near my P's had the same deal (maybe different wheels) for 1200.00 around that time.

I would agree with 165, for that kind of money go and get something better then a GT. Plus I'm not all that big on the dura ace group. I know that this will cause some serious debate but thats the way I see it.

I've got a LBS up here in the North Country with about 12 of the GT Pulses. He's selling em for $1100.

I wound up with the GTB, the primary difference being the frame is 7005 vs Easton and outfitted with Sugino components.

They are very nice rides.

Potsdam NY, up near Lake Placid. Dura Ace, black CXP 33's on high flange hubs. Sweet Mother of Jesus lookin.........

I'm gonna swap my Suzue/MA2 combo for a set of CXP 33 on Dura Ace hubs sometime this summer. He builds em up for about $200.

I'm kind of digging that GT.

'Tis a very nice bike. Only issue would be those brake levers on those bars. Brake levers and track bars are a bad pairing, something's gotta give.

That's the stomach trouble I'm having, to much to change. I like the frame. Someone told me that it's a little bit on the high side price wise though. But, they are supposed to be a pretty cool ride.

Actually one of the employee/owners of The Hub bicycle co-op here in Minneapolis has a GT like that. ALthough his is quite a bit nicer, Phil's laced to Cxp33's, sugino 75 cranks, etc etc. Not to mention the sweet looking toptube protector, some sort of plastic/rubber covered with spikes, very caveman.

i am guessing you mean per wheel.

They don't make cpx 33's anymore

where did you find that information? the mavic site says nothing about that, and since the cxp33s are one of mavics most popular rims (aero equivalent of the open pro), it wouldn't make sense that they'd stop making them...

I got it from Jim at Ben's bikes, he said that Mavic doesn't make those rims anymore, and recommended Velocity Deep V's.

i think he was lying to get you to buy the velocities.

i think he was lying to get you to buy the velocities.

Found a phone number to Mavic. Called. They have really low/no stock of CXP 33's right now. A shipment is due to come in soon.

Thanks for the email. Mavic does not make this rim any more. The closest to this rim would be the DEEP V RIM by velocity.

Is what he wrote me (exactly, I cut and pasted). I can't think of anyway to interpet it other than what he said. I'll offer him a second chance.

Or, maybee, I quit.

OneTinSloth

yeah...low/no stock doesn't equate to "they're not making it anymore." chances are, he just wanted to move what they have in stock...the velocities aren't bad, but from what i've seen, they're not eyeletted, and the braking surface isn't machined as nicely as the cxp33s.

that's really lame that he said they're not made anymore.

Gee, I wonder what that was I saw last week. Must have been an CXP 88.

Then again I was looking at a CXP, not a CPX

I'm pretty sure he'll ship. Not a lot of fixer gear heads up here, most of his buisness is mail-order / word of mouth. Kind of a weird setup, guy has all kinds of fixed gear stuff plus loads of unique road and MTB bikes hanging in the shop. Piles and piles of parts and stuff. Real old school kind of place.

Seems his main bread and butter is doing auto wheel alignments and stuff.

I've got to go that way next week to take the Taco in to the dealer for it's scheduled maintenance (its been sitting in the driveway for a month, I hate to break the trend and actually drive).

I'll stop in and get the latest on his offerings. He also had CXP 21 & 22 with DA for $199/pair.

Ask him about CPX 33's, and HF DuraAce or an equally good hub (Like a sz promax, anything sealed) 32 or 36 spoke if you can. Dig it, can you post an email addy for him?

I'll double check the CXP availability. I know he had Dura Ace High Flange hub sets for about $165. He also had some other built up wheels with various hubs, but I can't recall which/what right now. He'd most likely lace up whatever he's got handy

I'll get his latest cut sheet offering and post the goods. I'll get his email address also.
