Apparently people actually read this stuff. Guy yelled at me sunday (after I took a wheel he apparently thought had been bequeathed to him) " Do a group ride before you race."
Wonder where he got that?

Did you hear the guy right before the line? He's yelling at his leadout man "Just make it to the top of the hill.." which the guy sorta did, then died, by which time I was moving on by. The guy in back yells, "Don't box me in, dude!"
I've always hated being called dude.

4/5 35+.
I figure the guy thought I was a new 5. I would have liked to talk to him after the race, given that we (our team, specifically Kendall) won.

Guys get less vocal about things in the more experienced categories. Well, about riding skills anyway. They just swear when things get close or when crashes happen (like "you effing ahole, what were you thinking???" as everyone picks themselves off the ground).

then again, there's always the exception to the rule, like a certain CT cat2, who seems to take pride in being the most obnoxious rider in new england.

True. I bounce back and forth between Cat 4 races and Masters 45s. There is much less BS in the Masters.

That's at least partially because you don't have any of the ridiculous juniors in those masters races. Lucky.

I had one glimmer of hope for racing Masters this year, and it was taken away from me last night. I miss Masters racing. If it wasn't for crits, I'd probably hang up the USAC license for 2 years until I can race Masters again. I just don't have any interest in racing much further than 50 miles. It takes me out of the family for too long.

where was the race? If it was in FL, the word "hill" is very funny.

I haven't heard the word "inside" uttered once in the three p/1/2 crits I've done so far this season. It's fantastic.

Albany, GA. I'll leave it to somebody else to give you the obligatory invitation to come down and ride some "flat Florida" races in Clermont or San Antonio...

yeah...that's why all the pros live there.

Since I started racing again, I had to start back as a 5 a few years ago. It was amusing to be yelled at by newbies for taking a wheel, or filling a gap.

If it was a cat2 from years ago I'd know a few .... not up on who the youngsters are now-a-days.

I feel uninitiated because I don't. But I only do certain races so I may not see this particular racer.
btw Gainesville has some hills (at least to me). 39x23 and all that.

It's up to him to get to the front, not for you to let him get there.
Most people in the races remind me of "Jesus" more than "the dude" anyways.
Edit: I type really slow apparently

Duh, that's because every p/1/2 crit is strung out single file at some ballistic pace.
I think it must be in the rule book that you guys aren't allowed to go less than 30 in a crit.
