Texas - Windy this year or is it just me?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Seems like the wind has been howling more in Austin the past few months than I have remembered in years past. Or maybe I'm imagining things?

It sure seems like it to me too! :notamused:
You are not imagining anything. Just forgetting what Spring in TX is always like. ;)
Wind speeds are not as bad in summer and fall.

It seems like it's been windy for 3 weeks straight now. On the plus side, maybe it's because I'm ridng more and going faster. :)

And my commuting by bike is not helping matters either.

ever since I moved to texas from Ca it always seems windy, this year seems more so...but a great training tool and always good with a tail-wind
Likewise I prefer 90-100+ degree heat with my riding
Seemed pretty windy last fall too...I dunno. All you guys riding must be creating some kind of butterfly effect on the weather. Think if we all rode west really fast in unison we could create enough wind to blow California into the ocean? ;-)

It was super windy in Baytown on Saturday during the Gator Ride. The whole ride, we either had a strong headwind or strong crosswind, we never got the tailwind. It sucks when you have to pedal going down a hill to keep from slowing down.

Get it all out of your system now Cranes, because we are going to have a tailwind for the MS150...I just know it...no really...honest!

What's this illusive "tail wind" of which you speak??!! Seems like I've always got a headwind, or worse a head/cross wind for my commute.

Heck, you probably have better forecasting accuracy than our weathermen.

I was just looking at the forecast for Saturday, and it's showing 7 mph winds. Cool!

It's not just the wind. It's the never-ending series (not counting this week!) of BEAUTIFUL weeks and LOUSY weekends!

While I hate wind I'll take it over this weather. Try as I might, I can't get a life jacket stuffed in the seat bag.
I don't mind cold, I don't mind rain, but cold rain (and wind lets not forget wind) sucks.
If I wanted this kind of weather I'd live in The Netherlands

I HATE when that happens... and it always happens!

There's been a few times it has forecasted for "8mph" the night before, and when I wake up the trees are more horizontal than vertial the next morning. Check the weather... 8 mph my rear wheel!

Actually got to enjoy a bit of a tail wind this evening on the second half of my evening ride.

It must be because you are riding more, because it sure isn't my riding that's causing more! I'm just thankful that the movers didn't drop my mattress when they were moving it out of the apartment last week, one good gust caught it just as they were getting it to the truck.
