Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - wheels size or tire size?

I recently bought a better fitting frame. I made sure bottom bracket and headset sizes would work with my current parts but realized this morning that the wheelset I have isn't fitting on this frame. The front tire rubs on the top of the fork. The wheels are from a Bianchi Pista and it has pretty thick tires on it, not sure exactly how big though. Do I need an entire new wheelset or could I just use slimmer tires?

Look on the tire side wall and tell us what it says for size. My guess is you have too big of a tire.

Tires are 700x28C. It's a Myata frame and fork btw.

It depends what kind of quality you are looking for. I usually buy cheap Chinese tires because the roads around here are so crappy that it's cheaper for me to keep buying cheap tires than to buy good ones.

I have a hard time fitting 28s in my Trek. I can do it, but just barely. Both the frame and the Shimano 105 brakes are very tight.

But don't think you have to get 23s. I gave up on 23's entirely. 25mm is a much more reasonable size for many people. Also, many tires are undersized. Most of my 25s actually measure 23 when I get the calipers out.

If you do decide on 23s, go to probikekit.com. They've got lots, their prices are hard to beat, and shipping is free. They have the Vittoria Rubino Pro in 25s, for <$20. This should be a nice durable tire. I may buy them next. Or the Continental Grand Prix 4000 in 25mm, for around $33, if you want something racy, and available in colors.

If you are looking for some cheap good tires, I picked these serfas 700x23 (http://www.modernbike.com/itemgroup.asp?igpk=2126174986&TID=367) tires up for 20ish at my LBS.
