I'm in except for the Diablo. I'll be bailing around Tassajara and Diablo.

Let's call that the official ride map.
I plan to only ride up to the ranger station and down No. Gate. I'm on a schedule to get back to the city early.

I'm in Solvang too, or I'd be there :)

I love that you made a flier for it.

Yep I'm really jealous all of you are doing Solvang, It's going to be great, so I wanted to do a mini-solvang here, hence Morgan Territory.

Nice. I will try to talk my peeps into it. Looks like the bail-out would be to continue on Camino Tassajara when you guys turn on Blackhawk toward Diablo. From Camino Tassajara, you can hop over to Danville Blvd for a quick jaunt up to Walnut Creek BART. Looks like a good one to do carless in case you want to end up at a different BART stop.

I'd love to ride Morgan Territory - sadly, I don't think I'll be able to steal the time this Saturday :(

yep...that's what time I have to be back, so for any reason we're running late we can bail at Livermore.

Pete,

Please consider your ride on Saturday as the Official Reconnaissance and Scouting Expedition for:

Morgan Territory II: for the lilly livered danish eating Solvang slackers who missed the first one

I wholeheartedly endorse this. (OK, I can't use the solvang excuse, but I'll be in for the repeat)

I think I will be bringing along my friend Scott for this ride.

Just to keep my head on straight....We're meeting at CONCORD BART, right? Not Pleasant Hill BART.

Hmmm, how is it riding down Clayton Valley Road? All I can think of is lots of traffic and no bike lane...

I think that riding down Concord Blvd would be a better (safer) option. At least, there's less traffic

+1000 on Concord Blvd

This is my back yard boys. I ride these roads all the dang time. Clayton Rd is nasty and dangerous.

Here is a Bikely Route I worked up for you guys to try From Concord Bart to Clayton (http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Concord-Bart-to-Safe-Part-of-Clayton-Rd)

It is a nice way to go: smooth, scenic at times, safe and passes right by a Starbucks.

Link to Cue Sheet (http://www.bikely.com/cuesheet/route/Concord-Bart-to-Safe-Part-of-Clayton-Rd)

Maybe if you go this way I can be with you in spirit. I will be in Solvang. Have fun!

Starting tomorrow, it looks like my internet will be down for a bit (a week) and then I'll have a crappy connection after that. I may not have access to BForums unless I find an unsecured connection or go to the library and wait in line...I'll try to check in tomorrow night otherwise see you Saturday.

Lanceoldstrong,

Is there a route from Northgate back to Concord BART that you can recommend?

Okay try this route (http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/North-Gate-to-Concord-Bart)

and cue sheet (http://www.bikely.com/cuesheet/route/North-Gate-to-Concord-Bart)

It is very direct, has some great views and even though part is on a MUP a good pace is possible. The surface is good and there are not too many walkers.

I've updated the Bikely map (http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/260779) in my earlier post to include the Oldstrong Detour.

Yes it is.

But if my car is parked at Concord BART, then Pleasant Hill is moot.

Hey Lance, etc., if I need to bail early, could I go LEFT on Camino Tassajara (from Manning/Highland), then cut over to Dublin Blvd to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station? Would appreciate any local insight into a bail-out route to BART.

I am thinking something like this: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Morgan+Territory+Rd+%26+Manning+Rd,+Livermore,+Alameda,+California+94551&daddr=37.702158,-121.901207&geocode=&hl=en&mra=pe&mrcr=0&rtol=1&dirflg=w&sll=37.727266,-121.840119&sspn=0.268557,0.219727&ie=UTF8&ll=37.724836,-121.829109&spn=0.268566,0.219727&z=12

So it sounds like a rather crushing pace needs to be set and maintained so we get to the base of Diablo at a reasonable hour.

sounds good to me, at which point i will drastically reduce my pace and proceed to crawl up said mountain. daylight savings has its benefits. :p
