I am looking at this Paramount, sorry this picture is not high resolution, but I do have others at home that are and the bike is in excellent condition. Shimano 600 with the exception of Ultegra crank and rear derailleur. Good tires, plus extra set, fenders. He is asking $250 - what do you think?

The group and the wheelset are worth more than that alone. That said, 650c sized P'mounts will probably never go up in value. I'd say anything below $325 on that is well worth it.

Ultegra and 600 are more or less synonimous.

$250 is a fair price but I'd thoroughly go over that bike. Whenever I see bikes with mismatched tires and goofy seat/handlebar setups it makes me wonder what else is going on.

+1 Goofy mismatch can mean wreck. But if you buy it for the value of the components alone, you should be OK. Look for frame damage, internal rust and bent fork. If all of that is OK, then you are getting a pretty sweet deal.

I bought a 92 Schwinn Paramount Series 7 bike last summer for $200 and I love it. It has the 600 series brifters and the full component group so I think the price I paid was a bargain compared to everything else I was finding in that price range. My bike is a 650c bike too - but I am only 5-7 so with the 54 cm frame I think it fits me perfectly. My bike was setup with weird triathlon bars so I installed a threaded to threadless adapter, a threadless stem and some FSA bars with new bar tape and bought some fresh tires from the bargain basement at a local bike shop and I have put 500 miles on it so far. It rides beautifully and it was pretty cheap. I say check it out, go for a ride and if you like it make the guy an offer. The Series 7 was made overseas but it was the top of the line Series Paramount so it got the best components - including the 600 brifters. It was a $1200 bike in 1992.
