So I bought a bran new bike, Cannondale Bad Boy Disc, almost two years ago. I've been noticing my tire being a bit wobbly but didn't remember hitting anything too bad. I kept being lazy and ignoring it and finally, after riding it a few times, I stopped to check the rim. It turns out the rim seemed fine yet there was still a visible wobble in the tire so looked again and realized that the sidewall of my tire is tearing and causing it too bulge. I've been riding bikes since I can remember and have never come across this. Because I like to take preventative measures I am now curious as to what caused this. Here's my theory:
I hadn't been riding for a few months due to an injury. When I decided to go out for a couple rides I didn't check anything, i.e. tire pressure. After a few rides I had been noticing how flat my tires felt so I went to pump them up. Turns out they were under 20lbs (on street tires). I pumped them up and then started noticing the wobbling problem. I'm thinking that riding on such low tire pressure may have done some damage to the sidewalls.
Has anyone else had this problem, or know what causes it?
