IT was brutal; especially for a non climber.

oh man, the Times picked it up. And I heard there was a camera crew from National Geo?
looks like it won't be a fun little race much longer... but I still gotta do it.

I read the article yesterday. Does anyone have a course profile to give me a better idea what makes this thing such a beast?
Edit: found it (http://toporoute.com/cgi-bin/bicycle.cgi?routeKey=SNHLPVEMWCABHFD&calls=setNormalView,clearMetric,clearFollowRoad,setRouteLocked). That's a hard day in the saddle, but doable.

My brother works in Baton Rouge, I sent him the link. His response-
"YOU NEED TO PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDAR FOR NEXT YEAR AND MAKE THE ROAD TRIP.
IT’S ONLY ABOT AN HOUR AND ½ FROM THE HOUSE."
I'm going.

god what a crappy website that was....I find it hard to believe that they make a living selling anything off of that site. When are people going to understand that flash makes a website cumbersome and ridiculously annoying to navigate?

i was a mere 6 hours away last year. problem was i was out of shape, over geared, and had just arrived in the south.

In the back of the pack for the 1/2/3's .... Thats right at the turn for the 1st gravel section and I didnt want to be part of that pack. After about 5 miles of that stuff I got the hang of it and wished I was farther up the road with the leaders.
One thing I bought for the race is that new CamelBak "RaceBak" that goes under your jersey. Its pretty damn nice and will get a lot of use this year for TTing

how did your teammate, the one with the sophisticated training 'strategies', fare? i saw his beak popping out near the front group. shocking.

23rd (just out of the money). Theres a good action sequence of him eating it on the gravel on that guys site. Overall he had a good race and was the first 3 to finish.

do you think you'd use one of these racebak's for long road races in hot temps such as the TN state RR last year? I understand they have a feed zone but there are always people (myself included) that don't have teammates or people to hand water in the feed and without a neutral water support I found myself out of water after the first lap (especially since they took us so far off course in the beginning). 2 bottles down in a little over an hour of riding. Dang that was a ridiculously hot day.

It would be perfect for that event. You dont even notice it after a few miles unlike a normal camelbak because the bladder is tight to your body

Why do the people that make vids I want to see always add some crappy rock, especially linkin park(very popular with the car tuners) :bang:.
