Just discovered, having complained loudly and at length to the pizza delivery place about their barbecue sauce, that..
...recipes vary widely. (wiki-always honest, honest-pedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbecue_sauce))
I'd hazard a guess that the new, sweeter barbecue sauce is a recipe from a different supplier.
Doh!

Yeah but if someone comes to like a certain sauce at a certain place, that's what brings them back. It's not cool to be switching vendors. You are going there to buy something for a reason - to get something you like, not to go try other mysterious things all willy-nilly.
^^^ Exactly what Siu said.
I would complain too if someone put barbecue sauce on my pizza.

Who gets barbecue sauce from a pizza place?

As a true BBQ lover....that is disturbing. BBQ sauce should never get close to a pizza crust imo.

On my, apparently, strange Euroland pizzas I prefer tuna over ground beef and was quite happy with the tangy, slightly smoky, savory BBQ sauce they were previously using. The new sweet variety is pretty disgusting.
A few pizza places also do fruit pizzas, i.e., regular base and cheese, no tomato sauce, then fruit, nuts and stuff on top. Not bad but not an experience I'll go out of my way to repeat.
Typical MarkHR pizza (makes for a BIG pizza)
deep pan (but NOT chicago style)
regular crust
tomato paste base (BBQ but only if it's the savory stuff)
less cheese option
tuna
anchovies
olives
jalapenos
chillis
mushrooms
sweetcorn
onion
garlic
crispy (must be crispy) bacon
capers
tomato chunks
pickled artichokes
I'd add chinese chicken/marinated chicken but it usually tastes as if they merely waved the marinate/sauce bottle at the chicken rather than gave it time to actually marinate.
Do not trick up the pizza! Crust, sauce, cheese, meat (pepperoni, italian sausage are acceptable here) and maybe onions and olives. That is all.

jalepenos are almost always acceptable on pizza as well as mexican fair. you can keep the onions.

you almost got that right. Crust, sauce, cheese and some basil. that's it, rifinito, il pił eccellente.
I am down with that Mar(f)ty. Addition through subtraction.

I never complain to anyone that handles my food (unless Im never going back/ordering again) as the next time you order they may give you the "secret sauce." :twitchy:

Like language, various crises, tourists and other across the pond trading, food goes both ways too.
Mmmm, smoky mesquite flavor!

Yeah, in complaining I definitely burnt that bridge.
Which is too bad as the pizzas were ok.
Fortunately, London being London, there are many more local pizza joints that deliver.

Bolded items do not belong on pizza.
You may supplement that list with
avacado

perhaps, but the pizza in memphis sucks, but the pizza in the UK sucks ass, and then some.
there's two reasons why the sun once never set in the british empire: the weather is ****, and the food is even worse. they had to go somewhere else for both.

UK food (jellied eels, etc., :wtf: ) - fair point, luckily the pizza place is Turkish but NOT halal
Weather - wait 5 minutes already
Food - you get what you pay for. High end UK restaurants, chefs and cooking has, apparently, never been so good. Excluding the recent obese mallard incident.
Also, regarding the food, maybe that's why the "empire" expanded as it did. [sings off-key] gotta get out of here, gotta get right of here...[/sings off-key] I know that in my neck of the African woods the local/indigenous/not exported food is boring as heck.

Hot guacamole, sour cream, hot HOT salsa, pickled jalapenos, lettuce and grated cheese on a cooked pizza tastes great. Especially if the base pizza ingredients have strong/sharp flavors.

Sounds like a weird variation of a quesadilla. I'd try it. Twice, even. :)
It's so much better and tastier than the deep fried taco shells (more like deep fried sponge cake :notamused: ) that some places do.
