Hi everyone,

I will like to know witch bike is better and why between a TREK 7200 and a GIANT Cypress DX?

Ride each one. The one you like better is the better bike. I have a 7200 that I bought two years ago to get back into cycling. It has served me well, but I don't ride it much since I bought a Fuji Roubaix.

The Trek 7200 is a hybrid, not a road bike. I don't know anything about the GIANT.

I looked at the 7200 and 7500 for my wife to keep up with me, but these are not designed for speed. Try looking at a touring bike or cyclocross bike. The 7200 is very heavy in comparison. Plus with the touring/cyclocross you'll get drop bars which gives you many more positions to put your hands in. And when your going down hill you can tuck in and really crank up the speed.

I would suggest looking around a bit more and think about what you will use it for. Look at steel vs. alum for comfort and a carbon fork. Steel with carbon along with the wider wheels on a tourer / cyclocross will as comfortable or more so than the 7200.

Oh by steel I mean 853 or 831 which really is a composite. Bianchi Volpe, Lemond Proprad and Surly are a few examples.

This should really be moved to the road biking forum.

My gf has a cypress lx, it rides pretty smooth but it's no road bike. When I'm on it, it feels quite a bit faster than a mtb with slicks but definitely draggier than a road bike because you sit taller. But it's also much more comfortable. A hybrid's somewhat of a mix between a road bike, mountain bike, and a city bike. Kind of like those new compact suv's.
