Southern California - 'Cross trails around Irvine...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
A year ago I bought a Lemond Poprad as my main ride; I put a compact crankset on it and a more "aero" stem so that, with a quick change of the tires, I could ride on or off road as my whims dictated.
Lately I've been riding more off road than on, hovering around the Fullerton Loop. While I love the Loop, one trail tends to get boring after a while.
So! I work in Irvine and I know there's lots of MTB trails around here. Does anyone know if there are some trails that would be cross-bike compatible?

Blackstar canyon is good, pretty smooth for a fireroad / trail. I ride whiting ranch a lot, live oak trail, etc.

I ride my cross bike through Peter's Canyon alot and over to Irvine Park and through Barham Ranch (between Irvine and Santiago Oaks Parks). There's a day's worth of trails between Irvine Park, Weir Canyon and Santiago Oaks. Also starting from the Duck Club off Michelson, take the west trail dirt side) of San Diego Creek down to Back Bay and around. And a cross bike works perfectly on the Wood Canyon/Aliso Woods, coming back on the Coyote trail. Of course if you are one of those crazy cross riders, you can do any of the trails around Aliso and Oaks...
Lastly - a really fun cross trail is Ladera Ranch. Lots of water crossings, some hairy stuff, good climbs. If you start off the Sport Park on Crown Valley you can ride all the way over to O'Neil Park. Another place with fun cross trails. And then there's is Caspers...
really no reason to keep doing Fullerton Loop....
