I finally got out to ride- weather was awesome! last summer/fall I rode right at 400 miles until the weather turned crappy. I had plans on buying a trainer to use over the winter months but my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in early November. The bikes were put away, and no more thought was put into my own health. Well, the few pounds I did lose last summer came back, plus a few. Mom's cancer is now gone after surgery, numerous chemo and radiation treatments.

My wife and I tossed the bikes on top of the car, loaded up the trailer for the little guy and took off. We rode 10 miles of paved road with a few steep inclines. I think I may have over done it as I woke up Monday morning with my bad knee killing me, and as of today it hasn't stopped. I'm not sure what I did as I never felt that I was over exerting myself at the time. Maybe it was the fact that the weather was great and I was finally able to get outside for something besides work, spending time with my family or what but I never felt anything going wrong.

Anyway, we are expecting another week of crappy weather so I guess the old trick knee can rest for a bit. But as soon as it gets warm again, I am going on a mission to lose 71 pounds... I want to be under 200, and 199 will work for me :thumb:

Thanks again for the awesome forums, and a specific place us 'fluffy' folk can look for encouragement.

First of all congrats on Mom's better health. Cancer sucks. Secondly, there's no shame in downshifting waaay down on any hills. Glad you're back on two wheels
