Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Not sure what to do but I can relate. I had a Giordana Xcel Super with horizontals too. When I mashed on steeps the wheel would slip. It was a drag. I had to crank the quick releases so tight to keep them from slipping that I then had a very hard time releasing the QR.
I looked at a picture of that bike and it doesn't look as though the drop outs can be replaced.
Maybe its time for Ebay?
put crown washers between the skewers and the dropout, it gives it more "bite." crown washers can easily be found at any home depot.

With tfunks suggestion and switch to a through axle it will fix the problem. I am getting rid of all my QRs now that I know how easy it is to rebuild a hub with a TA.
DO NOT CHANGE THE BIKE...that is a sweet frame and it comes with horizontal dropouts for a reason.
