While looking for some less expensive ways to make upgrades, I noticed this stem. I didn't need nor want it. It started out reasonable, and kept going up and up and up.

You be the judge, or maybe I missed something. New stem from Co-Mo is $72, Ebay new stem is $75. FWIW, the Ebay stem does come with a reducer shim (less than $10), and no tax but does have shipping while the new one would have shipping only. It is a good auction for the seller and hopefully fair for the buyer.

Just some thoughts. Not knocking Ebay, as it has some great buys.

ha ha... I was watching that. Thought will keep it as a spare in case I wanted to fit someone else as Stoker. Currently got a fixed stem setup for my wife. Let it got once i saw the price shoot way up.

It started out reasonable, and kept going up and up and up.

desire gives way to want which gives way to need which gives way to irrational exhuberance.

If you want to see this is spades just watch a Barrett Jackson auto auction or any other type of objects of desire auction attended by new money types.

eBay is is neutral; it's an on-line auction - it doesn't sell anything or set prices. Blame the sellers or bidders and don't buy if the price is unreasonable.

I totally upgraded our tandem from 8 speed to 10 on ebay. Here's how it went

Ultegra STI shifters (triple FD) $140 shipped. this was a take off from a new bike
XTR M971 Rear Derailleur $95 shipped. NEW
Ultegra triple FD $33 shipped. Take off of new bike
Total: $268

Suggested Retail on this Gear: $647 US Prices - I know PBK is cheaper
Cassette came from my collection, but I plan to still buy a SRAM 11-28.

I get my heart broken on ebay all the time. I must be a cheep ass, I put my high bid in to "sniper" site, and never fail, I loss by $10-$15. I get that it's me being cheep or other people sending too much, not ebay's fault.

The only thing that really bugs me about ebay is that they list Large frames under the 58-59cm and 60-61cm. Most manufactures Larges are 56cm. I can't think of one that is a 58cm...
