First class was last Monday... paid out of pocket, expecting employer's reimbursement upon successful completion of all courses. It's a substantial amount so I can say I'm committed. I'm enjoying the Logic Circuit class the most... not the Boolean algebra part (and I'm sure I'm gonna hate flip flops), but I love designing circuits with logic gates... playing with multisim ATM.

Anybody else is taking or has taken Logic Circuits? It's a core class for most computer/electronic degrees... there must be a few around here.

The only thing I didn't like is that now days you do all projects on a simulator... I wanted to use a proto board, old school FTW.

Yes, Logic circuits was one of my favorite classes as an undergrad. If you are in Winter Springs, what school are you going to? Are you close enough for UCF? You're a good drive from USF, where I went to school.

Have you gotten in to K-Maps yet? That was fun....then once you learn K-Maps and systematic methods to designing bigger systems, it was quite fun. Once you learn that, the next level logic class let's you start designing real circuits, like ALUs, memory managers, custom stuff like controllers for all kinds of things like traffic lights, elevators, etc......

When I took it we did still use bread boards in the lab. It's a bit more 'real' when half your problems are tracking down broken wires and or physical things like that with a logic probe.

Yea digital logic! Fun class and probably the reason i went down IC design as a career choice, even though I jumped to analog design. I did bred boards but the kids at CU used a Xilinx FPGA kit of somesort.

Yep...they started using Xilinx a few years after I took those classes in undergrad too. At least they had an actual FPGA kit hooked up to download their designs and see them 'physically'.
