Hey all
It's been sometime since I visited Bikeforums. Well I've still been biking but slowly now. A couple of weeks ago I got an internal infection in my knee and now it's swelling. I sleep and visit the doctor but theres no help. When I pedal and my left knee comes up it "stuns" (I cant move it) itself and Im left coastinf for about 10 seconds which severly slows my speed. Really sucks, just a few days after the infection started, I was learning to bunnyhop. I tried pointing my toes down and as lifted my front wheel, I managed to lift the back a bit, not much about 5-10 mm. Right after I pull one off or even if I don't lift the bike, my knee lox up and it killz.
Loox like I won't be biking for a couple of weeks or months. Doctor said that it may last for a long while.

Well, this is indeed one of the side effects of not getting a properly fitted bike, get a bike that is too small, it will be hard on the knees, get a too large frame, it will be hard on the knees.

Well uhh this wasnt started by biking. It just started somehow. My doctor said it was a growing disease combined with an infection inflammation.

Is there any special way to increase my bunny hopping height? Or just to keep doing them until I can get higher and higher?

Knees become inflamed when you have a bad fitting bike.

Yep get clipless pedals. I used to get sore wrists when I did them on platforms. Bunny Hops are soooo easy with clipless:)

Please tell me you are kidding me?..
If you wanna get really good at bunny hopping and you have the proper technique down (lift front, thrust and lift rear) and you are doing it properly, some working out would help. Bunny hop is all power which can be trained while not being on a bike.
If your technique isn't perfect you are out of luck, unless you keep practicing....oh and practicing...don't cheat by getting clipless, or at the very least if you do...don't brag about how high you hop ;)

Konarider, maybe you're right, but explain how only one knee is killing me? I always try to use equal power on both legs. Also, when I was 7 I got a rigid zellers bike, it was too big for me but there was no pain.
It's funny how the pain actually started when I was skateboarding and I put my left foot down to push forward ( I ride "goofy") and then the pain hit me, but Im pretty sure that's not what caused it.

Your pedal stroke may feel even, that feel can be decieving though.
It just takes one hit on the knee to cause it.

Oh well. Waiting to recover. Until then, I will make a thread of what's happening everyday and pics are wanted. I gotta do something bike related instead of biking. Man this knee is just annoying.
