Alright, first off, I've already read the Getting Started w/ Fixed/SS thread.
I just need to know something real quick. I've got a late 80's lugged Specialized Sirrus parts bike. The frame is cherry but most of the components were missing and I'd like to make it SS.
My question is, what would be the cheapest way to make this thing SS? It's got a 7 or 8 speed Shimano cassette I can take off, but I don't want to buy new hubs, or wheels. Could I just take the cassette off and somehow attach a singlespeed 17t sprocket on it? I just want to make sure before I buy it. :) I'd expect that I might make it fixed later on but right now I just want it rollin.
(also, no I don't wear really tight jeans rolled up to my calves, rayban wayfarers, smedium shirts, and any of that other ****e.) :D
