Northern California - 3/15 Ride of sanity in the Peninsula :-)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Did you see this somewhat longish and flat :twitchy: (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=519123)ride that some of the BF infidels are putting together this Sunday? :p
While I just snatched me some me-time this Sunday, I don't I'm fit enough to hang with that earlier-mentioned ride. Plus, I don't think I can start until 9:30 AM approx., so I can't even try to do partials for that ride.
Therefore, is anyone interested in something not as extreme, but somewhat challenging? I am thinking of this one (http://www.civex.com/tour/120kmap.pdf) that I did last year as a placeholder for now. Any suggestions?

hey jack,
would you believe i haven't been back to tunitas since my first-ever BF ride that you hosted a while back?
i remember feeling good, on page mill, and then absolutely dying on tunitas - in the rain. i think i'm long overdue to conquer that hill. :thumb:
i'm trying to firm-up my weekend plans right now, but i'd definitely like to give it another go. i'd be riding from home so, ideally, i'd meet you at the base of Kings Mtn and we could go from there.

Michael,
Sounds good! I'm sure Tunitas will be like a little bump to you now that you've been riding for a while. Let's meet at the base of Kings if your plan firms up favorably!

fyi - the National Weather Service is forecasting a 40 to 60% chance of rain on the peninsula for Sunday. Hope you got in a good ride on Saturday.

We are sane this weekend.
We are joining this ride. (Ruth & I, and Ramon).

I might be doing a similar ride tomorrow, but I'll be doing the lone ranger thing. So if you see someone suffering on Tunitas, wave as you blast by!

Alright!
So, I'll be starting at 9:30 AM. Is anyone meeting me there? Otherwise, perhaps we'll meet at the base of Kings?
Weather: rain cancels. If it's clear by 8:45 AM tomorrow, then we'll take our chances.

Let's meet at Roberts around 10:15. I'll separately PM you my cell.
Using bikely from the pdf map provided, it's about 13 miles from Foothill/Page Mill to base of King's at Tripp. How long you think that will take Jack?

OK Robert's @ 10:15.. see you!
Assuming 10:30 departure from Robert's, then you'll probably be at the top of King's by 11:15 or so? I'll plan to get to the top of Tunitas at that time and meet you guys.
Hope the weather cooperates.

Yikes, no idea on that one, Ramon. I think it typically takes me about 35 to 45 min from Foothill/Page Mill to Roberts, and about 5 min from Roberts to base of King's at Tripp, so maybe a total of 40 min for you?
Are you meeting us at base of King's or Robert's? I suggest Robert's since I'm meeting Ramon/Ruth and Michael there.

I'm going to bail on this one, sorry Jack. :(
It's still raining down here, I'm not in the mood to play in the mud, and I'm waaaay too comfy in bed right now.
My rematch, with Tunitas, will have to wait another day...

The radar shows nothing too serious today. I'm going to go out later in the day. Gotta get some riding in. Might head south, since the rain is in the north.

I am still going (hoping I'm not jinxing myself there with the weather). However, my riding time is actually now cut down significantly. I think I'll go up to top of Kings, and come down from there. Hopefully that won't stop the other regular riders from going all the way down Pescadero and Tunitas. Please call or text me if anything changes. Thanks!

Not going now... Maybe later if it dries up, and I am less tired.
Plus, I don't think I will go west of Skyline today.

Oh oh....
Ramon?
I guess I'll hopefully by chance meet up with whoever's out there today then?
