Hi guys,

I'm avid rider, I commute and ride on the weekends, I love the riding in DFW but now heading to new cycling territory without a clue.

Does any anyone have any road cycling tips they can share about San Antonio? I'll be located in the North West area - near the medical center.

Also is there a store in the region like RBM (Richardson Bike Mart), someone told me I will need to.."DRIVE" to Austin for good mechanics??

Thanks ahead of time!!

Plano to SA huh? I wish! I'm from San Antonio but the job's up here for me. I don't know the name of the store but there's one near on the northwest intersection of San Pedro and 410. I recall it was right behind a Toys-R-us.

There are plenty of good stores in San Antonio and good mechanics. Right near the Medical Center would be Ride Away Bikes at Huebner Oaks Shopping Center. Check out the San Antonio Wheelmen on the web for all the stores and ride info.

Try looking up the San Antonino Wheelmen. I visited San Antonio for Thanksgiving with one of my cycling buddies and we looked up some riding possibilities and found this group. We ended up doing an awesome 30 mile ride that took us by about 3 or 4 of the missions. The route was set up to go longer if you wanted. It was a beautiful ride and we met some really nice people. Good luck!

Oh, I will warn you that there were some free-range neighborhood dogs on the route that got a bit protective. Just yell "get!" in your best Texas hick accent and they stop. Not glamorous or graceful....but it produces the needed result.
