Foo - Mega Rock Bands

OK....going to put a poll up of some MEGA rock bands. Multiple choices allowed. Pick your FAVES and ONLY your faves.

Nothing but the BIG names up here. If I didn't put your favorite mega rock band, sorry, only 10 allowed (I said that so Michigander doesn't get mad when I don't include AC/DC).

Just curious who the best of the MEGA big rock bands are according to Foo.

Not my taste either...but they are one of the BIGGEST rock bands, so I felt compelled to include them.

Tell me a woman/female band in that category?

The only band I can think to come close would be Heart (who's one of my all-time favorite bands by the way). As much as I love Heart, they aren't in the category of these bands.

Metallica's the only one that's not 'classic hits standard fare' so by that criterion Heart and Pat Benatar should be eligible.

It's sad to see Aerosmith in the same category as the Stones when they are such wannabes. I guess they wannabe'd StonesXZep, and now there they are immortalized at the same status according to BF... it must be true, I read it on the interwebs!

I disagree....they may not be old enough to be in 'classic rock', but they have a following and icon status FAR superior to Heart and Pat Benetar. I never claimed it was a 'classic rock' band list, just a 'mega rock' band list.

FIne by me...I think they suck anyway. :p I only put them in there because I hear them still referenced a LOT to this day as big bands, still popular with many, listed as influence (yuck!), etc...

But they should have been the band I cut and put U2 in there instead.

As one of the two true southerner's who voted for that band, i take offense at you yankees downplaying a group of good ol' boys.

It's not about favorite bands....it's about favorite of the mega bands.

My concern. We fall victim to the play lists being pre-empted by what is mega. Start demanding a greater music diet from our radio masters. I assure you , they are only too happy to play the hits. It's easier to just have some disc spinner sitting in some master control room in New York over hire real music pros , who know what's up with music and have a feel for aspiring local talent.

I'd love to have put the Allman Brothers in place of the Lynard Skynard.....I love the Allman Brothers, but I was trying to be true to the point of the band selection.

I did seriously consider the Kinks, but for same as some others thought they just weren't quite big enough to be in that 'mega' rock band category.


Besides this is MY list....I could have put Vanilla Ice on there if *I* wanted to! :p
