Hello.
I just sold old bike-a Magna I bought at Target store here in New York area. Sold on ebay-person paid $130-how dumb can Americans be? Bike was made worse than Ukranian car made on monday. Big pile of caribou feces, if anybody ask me.

Anyway, I now own almost-new Schwinn Varsity, and plan to race triatlon with it. Even bought myself new skinsuit-you see me wearing it in photo on left.

Have many questions about this bike:

Can I put aerobars on it?

Should I remove extra brake lever? What is this called?

Plastic disk behind freewheel-what does it do?

Do I use little nut on tire valve? What is nut called?

Seat on bike really hard. What brand saddle is best?

Trying to take off pedals. Which turn what direction? What about BB races?

Chain skip when peddaling hard-do I need new chain?

and also-tubular or clincher? What is difference? What is better?

Must have answers.

Aerobars----maybe?

Remove the extra lever only IF the other levers will work without that piece there.

Plastic disk keeps the chain from grinding the spokes if it jumps the sprocket----if the bike is well adjusted you can remove it.

You have a Presta valve---the little nut needs to be loosened to pump up---then retightened when you're done.

You just need to get your butt used to the saddle.

I believe the peddles are threaded opposite of "normal" threading.

Chain skip----just needs adjusting.

Yeah, beacause only Americans buy stuff on E-Bay ...

BTW, if the Triathlon thing doesn't work out, but continuing the "riding" theme, you'll look great in that suit on Chicago's near West Side at around 1:00 am

Welcome to the forums, Magna Man. Shouldn't that be 'Schwinn Man' now?

My first bike as an adult was a Magna, and in that regard I much prefer the epithet 'ignorant' rather than 'dumb'; the ignorant can learn, the dumb you can't teach anything.

Enjoy your bike, and enjoy the forums.
