I've had my Stumpjumper FSR Comp for about a year now with 600 miles on it and I was wondering how often I should service my front fork. One side seems like it's leaking oil or something cause the dirt collecting there has oil in it.

Download the manual from the Fox site. You'll find a maintenance schedule chart and some reasonably detailed info, including pictures, on how to maintain it. The tools and materials needed are also specified. You can buy the oil and seal kits directly from Fox. The folks there are helpful if you need advice.

I have the same bike with about the same mileage. I'm planning on taking it in to the LBS and getting the fork serviced pretty soon. I'm not having any leakeage issues, just seems like it should be time, plus they'll do the maintenance for around $30. You may want to also consider taking the shock apart and re-lubing it. Mine was acting sticky and funky, so I did that myself. It's pretty easy and made the shock feel like new again. When I relubed the shock, I had some issues getting the air sleeve threaded back on. I couldn't get enough leverage to thread it all the way and there isn't enough room around the shock on the frame for me to get my hand in there to turn it. So, a bench vise would be a good thing to have handy. Fox also has some service videos on their website that are pretty useful.

So if I service the fork myself, is my warranty void?

It used to void your warranty. Fox only wants fox certified tech working on the stuff. Heck I know of one guy a couple of years ago that got his fork serviced at a shop and it still wasn't covered because the guy wasn't fox certed. :)

Any of you guys know why one the tubes would be oily? Do I have a leak or is a gasket leaking or something?

hmm ... ya I suppose I'll clean it off and keep riding for a bit to see if it continues. If so I guess I could try servicing it myself.
