Hello,

After saving my college bicycle for 50 years it's time to etiher clear out the garage or restore it. The model number puts it as being made in May of 1956. I got it second hand since I couldn't afford a car. Is there a way to find out what model it is since there are no decals or markings on it, just the serial number. It's a two speed with baloon tires and a Bendix brake. Is there a way to find parts to restore it (all it really needs is a saddle; everything else is original) or what it would be worth on the open market?

Thanks.

It's of little or no value. I'll PM you my address so you can send it to me. I'll properly dispose of it for you.

Since we don't have any pictures of your bike and very little description to go on, we'll let you do your homework here:

See if you can find a frame which matches your bike. Ebay is your friend when looking for a new saddle or parts. Value is not to be discussed here, or the mods will bump this to "Vintage Values." So edit your post and take the "open market" question off your last sentence. One thing at a time.

I know you are seeking model and market expertise but to digress:
Why would you sell a bike you've stored all these years? Was it a mistake to store it all these years? Was it correct to store it all these years and now something changed? If it is not your job, whose job is it to keep it as is or restore it?

What if ...ah....a friend of mine.... thought you should never sell any bike?

If you just want a seat, head to ebay and you will find one. There should be many old vintage Schwinn seats available.
