Cleary, your bike is too heavy.

That sucks. Estimated recovery time?

That sucks.

I had an Inguinal hernia that was repaired arthroscopicly. The only limitations I had was pain. The doctor placed some mesh over the site and did the opposite side because he was there. He explained that unlike the cut and stitch method there is no recovery or limitations needed. He said it was like patching a tire and as such you could do what you wanted and pain tolerance was the only inhibitor.

Recovery was quick and no issues to this day.

Good Luck

Messed up. I guess it was bad enough to see the Dr., but hopefully it will remain managable. Good luck with it.

Going to have to. I'm sure not mailing my form in just yet. I feel bad for all the shlubs who lose to the guy with his balls in a bunch.

Just try explaining the concept to a college kid in a P/1/2 race, and attack when he cringes.

"Turn your head and cough." I discovered mine when I had a chest cold -if you're planning on waiting do not get sick.

~2 years ago I had the laparoscopic TAP repair and was riding again in 3 weeks. In theory the TEPP repair is even better as it doesn't enter the peritoneal cavity, but my surgeon found the procedure awkward. Avoid the open repair.

I hate that for you. Hope everything comes out ok.

Could this be God's Penance for all that Pcad Ball Busting g?

Hope it doesn't crap your style pal. That sucks. How do you know you have a hernia, is this a self-diagnosis? Have you had one in the past so you're familiar with the symptoms?

No racing for me this weekend. Hell, they told me not to even exercise for 48 hours (post dental surgery) but I'll be sneaking out for a couple of hours tomorrow to blow out the Hydrocodone hangover (I'm presuming once this Marcaine wears off I may be diving into it, but maybe the Advil will suffice).

bummer

I'll have to give you that disc next time.

you can feel it. it's pretty obvious. I suppose I could be wrong, but I think it's unlikely.

I knew you guys were close and all...

It retracts when your not doing anything right? If not, you can't wait.

Hope you're wrong and it's not so serious, I guess the doctor will tell you. Won't he say 'And NO bike riding!'?

The inquiry will be pretty binary. How much damage can I do by racing out the season and getting it fixed in the fall?

If it’s reducible, the repair is considered elective – you decide when it’s annoying enough to go through with it. You can choose to live and race with it for as long as you want, however, it is only going to get worse over time.

If it’s not going back in, it can be very serious (strangulated hernia).

In a perfectly just universe it would be a chick doctor with a big rack. She'd call me rainbow brite, slap me in the ass, and tell me to HTFU.

Had inquinal patched with mesh year and a half ago. Outpatient surgery and quick rwcovery. Well worth if you get that burning feeling when you stand too much. First three days hurt like fark, vicodin rinse repeat. After that recovery is steep. I did 25 miles my eleventh day post op and was hammering several days after that.
Ask doc if he uses a post surgery pain ball and if he does make sure you can pee following surgery. If not you will need a catheter. Pm me if you have questions.

I have a hernia.

It's really a hisnea.

If you're racing season climber skinny, it might just be an internal organ.

Fingers crossed it works out OK and you don't lose much (if any) racing.

Doctor thought it was possible, but unlikely, that there was a hernia there. He thinks it could be a severe muscle strain. Gave me some dope, told me to rest as much as possible, and to come back in a week. So, I'm racing tonight. I'll probably drop my saddle a touch also, to remove some strain on the area. I tend to run it at my anatomical limit.

So is there a visible bulge just above and to right and left of your john thomas? one side will look slightly off and it bulges more week after week. does it burn/feel tight or hurt when you stand around in one spot for say 10 or more minutes,

gsteinb

So after feeling fine all season this hip flexor/groin strain seems to have resurfaced. What sort of dr would one see about that kind of thing? I think that P90X core workout aggravated it again, though it obviously wasn't healed since that workout isn't all that crazy. Might need to pitch doing any weights other than abs and figure out how to do everything on the bike. dang dang dang.

When I get home next week I'll figure if I need a referral or not. Fortunately it doesn't limit me riding, but still I hate the idea that something ain't right in Denmark.
