Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Out & back to Capistrano. Start in O'side at Pier View coffee (need my morning fix). Maybe roll down the coast to Solana beach on the return to get in some lazy junk miles. Roll at 8ish (read: when I finish my coffee). Anyone care to join?

I'm headed up that way tomorrow but I have church in the morning so can't leave until 9:30.

I was planning on Carlsbad to Newport tomorrow if you want to go a little further. I'll be passing right near Pier View coffee if interested. I can come through at either 8:00 or 9:30 if anyone is interested in the longer distance.

I was hoping to get in about 80 miles tomorrow. I can be at Oceanside pier around 9:30 or so.

Sorry, don't mean to thread jump on robertkat's original ride, but 80mi RT up the coast up at 9:30
(or earlier) works fine for me.

We can meet at Oceanside pier at 9:30. Whoever shows up can ride.
I was planning on going up to San Clemente or maybe a little farther to get 40 miles, stopping to eat, then coming back down.

I'm game. No worries about jumping the thread. Like I said, I don't mind staring late, er, almost prefer it. It would be fun to get together and then if I or anyone wants to turn back at any point then no worries. I might be down for Newport. Depends on how I'm feeling when I get on the road. See you all tomorrow then ya.
Any ideas as to pacing? I'd love to join, but I'm kind of out of shape.

Since it's a long ride I'm thinking around 15-16 mph average. I plan on drafting behind the biggest guy. :innocent:
Yikes... I doubt I could average 15 MPH along the coastal route right now. I might show up anyway, though... it's not as if I would get lost if I can't keep up. So if I show up, can I get those beads you promised? :p

I'm kind of out of shape.
Haven't been on the bike all week eh? Don't worry, it's only tough going north. Coming back down, the wind will help you.
:speedy:

I will have beads with me tomorrow. :D
I am not planning on hammering at all, I'm just looking to get miles in the saddle. And I plan on stopping at the halfway point to get real food (as opposed to bars or gels).

Haven't rode since Jan 1. :o

Okay, beads, relaxed ride, food... I'm in. :D

Relaxed is good. Food is good too. That was kind of the idea. Gots to save the strengths for next Sunday.

Wait, so what exactly is the plan? Start at 9:30 at Pier View? Where's that? Is there parking nearby?

Meet at Oceanside Pier at 9:30. I'm assuming that Pier View coffee has a view of the pier so people will see us congregating there.
No, Pier View is on the other side of the tracks at the corner of Cleveland and Pier View.
I didn't mean to confuse you guys; I was asking to see if RK wanted to have coffee earlier.

Okay, meet at the pier and then swing by Pier View coffee.
If people are meeting at Pier View, I guess I'll meet up there since it appears to be right by the Amtrak station. I might get lost looking for the actual pier. :o

I don't know where Robertkat is meeting. If he doesn't post here again then I will go to the pier first at 9:30 and then to the coffee shop.
Okay, I'll check for confirmation of a meeting place in the morning. If there's no confirmation or multiple choices, I'll probably be at Pier View.

When are going to be at Pier View?
8:30 ish.
On second thought, I think I should stick with a solo ride of ~50 miles tomorrow. It really has been a LONG time since I last rode (or did anything remotely resembling exercise). Hope you guys have fun.
8:30 ish.
Oh, I'll probably miss you. I'll see you next week.

You guys missed out. We gave up and went to TJ for the donkey show, got drunk and rode around in a parking lot for 8 hours until we racked up 75 miles.

It takes 592 laps around the parking lot to make 75 miles, BTW.

I'm not sure whether to be alarmed or impressed that you know this. :D
