All the signs are there, shaved legs, Chamios butter, and I've cut off the crop of hair I'd grown since last fall, at least 6 inches fell to the floor this morning. I'm happy to have done it I'm commuting in the rain today, and long hair with the sand and crud kicked up in the rain, well, a buzz cut sure makes cleaning up so much better.
What are your preperations for summer?

Well naisme,

I find it almost impossible to think of summer preperations while riding in snow this week. :(

Lets see, there are 2 things on the list that need to be done. New chain on the Rampar and need take the tandem in to get the front BB tightened up. Perhaps purchase some new rain gear which may come in handy for next winter's commutes as well. :)

Don't forget the clogged greenway filled with fair weather roadies, I almost like the winter better for being more open...

and how about those fair weather riders riding up the wrong side of the road/ greenway/ path?

I think they may be my worst pet peeve.

Stinkin rollerbladers. I miss the solitude of 40 degree and colder weather.

The final laundering of my winter stuff - tights, upper layers, etc.
And wearing as little as possible.

No particular bike maintenance; it's done year 'round.

It's been on and off summer like here in the PNW for the last month or so. I've been in shorts only since March, with weather dependent changes in the upper body clothing. My biggest change is avoiding the strollers in the morning and avoiding the MUP altogether in the afternoon. Too many "amateurs" out there to make the path useful. Plus it's more fun to take longer rides home now. I've been noticing a lot of riders this season with out helmets, or even worse with helmets unstrapped. It's their head, but still not something I like to see. (better than the morons who bike against traffic though, now those folks are breaking the law, being annoying and making cyclists look irresponsible. /rant)

(Man I want some of those Shimano sandals too... :) )

yeah, i see this too. do they think it looks cooler with it unstrapped? helmets are horribly dorky looking anyway, having it unstapped doesn't change a thing. if it's on, it might as well be on all the way.

I see schoolkids like this all the time. Or they have their helmets strapped to the handlebars or backpacks. "Nice helmet, kid. Works a lot better if you actually put it on your head."

man, i hate summer.

too hot, too humid. not cold.
too many fair-weather, can't hold a line cyclists.
swarms of joggers, rollerbladers and dog-walkers
everyone with headphones and not a clue in the world

did i mention that it's too damn hot?

i think i put on less mileage in summer than i do in the spring and fall.

I have been looking at these as well. I really liked delivering in sandals and now if I could actually get some spd ones, boy I would be a happy little camper.
Oh and yes I agree that if you are going to ride with a helmet somewhere on you or your bike it might as well be on your head and straped on to boot. Ok sure I don't where one but thats my choice.
