So here is a little story for you.

i left mall today and as soon as i got out another bicyclist passed me. i ride brakeless with a light and no bell or a helmet(but im getting one soon). The guy that passed me was riding a mtb with blinking light in a day light, helmet all the jazz. he was an older dude just cruising through a mall parking lot on a smaller gear with his both fingers on he brake levers. he had a messenger bag on and was dreassed as a legit biker.

I stayed for a while behind him, i felt that i could be going a bit faster but i didn’t want to pass him. Then a small mall parking lot intersection came up, and there was a mini van just slowly deciding what to do. We were coming down on it pretty quick. MTB guy went to the right and i decided to go straight and pass the van on the left side. When i was almost in the end of the intersection the mini van decided to honk at me so i gave the driver a finger(I feel kind of bad, but he wasn’t doing anything.... just sitting there)

After i was cutting across the half empty lot when the other car decided to do the same and almost hit me. That’s when the mtb dude catches up to me. I took off cuz i was already pedaling faster and in the end i ran the red light and he went to a different direction.

Sorry to keep this long but i just feel like a inpatient jackass...

Did similar situations ever happened to anyone here? That you felt you were doing the daily but then felt bad about it.

Every day. Feeling bad about it means that you're not a complete jackass, as long as you learn from it.

i dont feel bad when people dont realize its a green light, and dont move. so i go. and of course when i go they notice and decide to honk at me when im already through the light. i always love that one.

wait? i'm confused...

you feel bad because:

a- you ran a redlight?
b- flipped off a van?
c- passed another cyclist?
d- all of the above?

I do these regularly, well maybe not flipping off cars too much.

you flipped someone off for honking when YOU did something wrong? Yes, you should feel like a jackass.

Well, I was riding back from Portland coming down Murray. I did not feel like waiting at the red light at this intersection near Shari's, so I slowed down as to not approach the light as fast. Anyway, I did not feel like putting my foot down, as I am not quite proficient at track stands, so I did a half-ass one, then saw it was clear and ran the red.

A while later, when the cars finally had green, this cream-colored truck who was at the front of the line passed me and yelled something through his bullhorn. I was quite confused and did not hear what he said.

There was no point to this story, I just wanted to tell someone. :(

funny, some doughy frat boys yelled f**k you from an suv at me today. i had just climbed about a mile and a half of incline and i think all the oxygen made me stupid because i followed them into a liquor store parking lot and stared at them for a second. nothing happened so i rode off, thankful for not getting my wobbly ass beat by some fat kids cruising in their parents escalade. they yelled something unintelligable at me when i was a block away so i just flipped them off and kept riding.
same thing, no point to my story, just reminded me of being a kid and getting screamed at from basically the same type of people for skateboarding.

Did he do something wrong to the driver?
