Ok, here is how it works.
First leg is you have to eat 50 Buffalo Chicken Wings, sans celery or blue cheese dressing.
Second leg is a 2 mile swim in piranha infested waters .
Third leg is a 50 mile bike ride on a fixed gear with 56x13 gearing over hilly terrain.
Fourth Leg is a 10 mile sprint to the finish in work boots.

Warm pbr will be served with the wings.
Why not a 56x11 setup, while wearing a parachute?
Can't be anyworse than it is cold.

I can do the buffalo wing thing and the work boots. Mine are steel toes and I often will do power walks in them on my lunch hour.

That will only come into play if the course has a headwind.

So you're saying your boots were made for walking?

fixed gear, I think the only 11T lock ring hub/cog is from a speciality maker.
unsure, but suntour made a 12T cog with lock ring.

So you're saying your boots were made for walking?
And that's just what they'll do.

You will surely get manly applicants.

56 up front and a 13 tooth on the back, in the case of a headwind, a 56x11 with a parachute.

lets use 700B wheels with it's nice 635x37 wheels and tyres.
Let's add a wheel-driven generator that sucks off the first 55 watts to power a headlight!

Could we put the BCW at the end? I think I would not be able to handle that as the first leg, but I'd probably be hungry enough at the end of the other three legs to make a decent effort.
