The new velodrome that we have here in Boulder, CO is charging $79 for a 6 punch open riding pass. The track is 142 meters, wood and indoors if that makes a difference. Is that a standard rate? This is my first track riding experience so I was just wondering.
Thanks,

Does that mean six visits for $79? That is kind of expensive for non-racing track time, but building and maintaining an indoor velodrome can't be cheap, especially early on when they're trying to recoup expenses. In the middle of winter though, I would gladly spend $79 to be able to ride an indoor velodrome rather than suffer through the cold.

For a private facility (which that is) that's not out of whack. You probably should compare to Forest City Velodrome (http://www.forestcityvelodrome.ca/index.php) and ADT (http://lavelodrome.org/training.htm).
Walk-up price at ADT is $20/session, but there are various discounts-- buy 10 at once and it's $16/each. Volunteer for about 5-10 hours every 6 months and get 50% off. Pay a year up front and it's less than $10/week for all you can ride. Volunteer *and* pay a year up front and it's a couple lattes/week.
Keep in mind also that it's really effective training per unit time spent on it, and on a 142 m track it's almost as much carnival ride as it is exercise. Compare it to the cost of a movie and the entertainment value you'd get there-- I'd much rather spend 2 hours and $15 at the track than at most movies.

At the Forest City Vel it's $20 for a walk-in Rec riding session (usually two hours) and about $375 for a yearly membership. That's about $7 per session if a person rides 1x weekly.
Hey I'm new here, and I'm not too familiar with track racing, but the track near me is free for recreation as long as there isn't a race or something else scheduled. It's outdoor, but I'm not sure the difference. I just started heading up there on the weekends to get some experience.

Each of the punches are for 1 hour. I guess i should see if they need any volunteers.
Frisco Superdrome is $5 per day for open track time or $100 for a years pass.
