chelboed and USAZorro have joined the staff here at Bike Forums, volunteering some of their time as moderators. Let's throw some congrats (and condolences :p) their way and welcome them to the team.

Both are pretty good guys, and I think they will be a great addition to the team.

is there some sort of secret sign-up list for people who want to volunteer their time, or do the administrators just pick people at random to petition?

We look at their posting characteristics, in particular with an eye to how well they handle themselves and resolve conflicts, etc. Candidates are proposed by the moderator staff and reviewed at the Admin level. The alternative method, you can contact me to let me know you are interested, and would then be placed under consideration for the next time we add staff.
