Just picked up a 1971 24" Schwinn Continental, okay condition. Someone started to make it a fixed gear, so it's missing the derailers, shift levers, and cables. Chain shortened, and missing the outer chainring gaurd. I plan to buy a donor bike, probably a women's bike, for parts. I only looked at the bike because of my lust for a campus green bike, and in hope that it would be a decent fork and frame. Rougher than what I wanted, but I wasn't allowed to leave until I made an offer.
The paint has a lot of chips so it should be painted. Is there an off the shelf, spray can paint that matches campus green, or something real close? I don't want to buy a $22 + $12 s/h can of paint on ebay, looking for something reasonable. What would be a good source for decals? It has the original "Sea Schwinn" bike shop decal that I'd like to keep, any way of protecting that, or replacing?
